Enrollment Requirements and Verification Process
How do I set up my Wharton email and other information?
After we have received your decision form and deposit, you will be emailed instructions to set up your PennKey and Wharton login. Keep an eye out for that information! Establishing your PennKey and Wharton login will then allow you to set up your Wharton email address and to create a profile to become active in the Wharton online community. Please take care of this ASAP. It is your PennKey that initiates the rest of your Penn and Wharton related accounts, allowing you access to all you need to get started. See the Enrollment Steps page for further details.
What if I have not received my PennKey setup code?
Verify that you are checking the correct email address by matching it against the address listed on the online application system. If the email you used is incorrect or no longer valid, please go to http://www.upenn.edu/pennkeyrequest where you can request to have the setup code resent. Please note that this second attempt to send your PennKey setup code will be done through U.S. mail and will be sent to the address on record in your application, not via email.
If your e-mail address is correct, send an e-mail to mbaexec-ops@wharton.upenn.edu to inform the Admissions Office that you never received a PennKey email. We will further investigate and help facilitate the issuance of a new PennKey set-up code.
I'm planning to apply for financial aid. Can I get started now?
You should begin by reading the information on the Financial Aid and Tuition page. The more general Penn Student Financial Services site is also a great resource. For more specific questions, please contact the MBA Financial Aid office in Philadelphia at 215-898-8728 or financialaid@wharton.upenn.edu.
What do I do after I submit the Verification Release form and payment to ReVera?
In most cases, you will not need to do anything. Some students (i.e. those from the military, those who are self employed, etc.) may be asked to provide the appropriate supporting documents. You will be contacted by a ReVera Services representative if this is the case.
I just realized some of the dates in my application may be a little off. Will this cause an issue with the Verification process?
In most cases, no. While all information in your application should be accurate, we understand that minor discrepancies sometimes occur due to inaccurate records, faulty memory, etc. Wharton will review all findings and contact the student if there is an issue that needs to be resolved.
Deferrals & Extensions
Does Wharton allow students to defer their admission?
All deferral and extension requests are handled on a case-by-case basis, and it is our general practice not to grant deferrals or extensions except in extenuating circumstances. Students who wish to request a deferral must contact our office via email at mbaexec-ops@wharton.upenn.edu. Please note that (1) all deferral requests will be reviewed after the decision and deposit deadline, and (2) only students who have paid the enrollment deposit by the matriculation deadline can submit a deferral request.
What types of deferral requests are/are not granted?
As mentioned above, it is our general practice not to grant deferrals or extensions except in extenuating circumstances. However, we are aware that circumstances can occur that are beyond anyone’s control and foresight. Circumstances such as military orders, some severe health concerns, and the inability to enter the United States (despite documented best efforts) due to visa or immigration-related difficulties are some of the reasons deferrals could be granted. Requests related to seeking new funding sources on the other hand are typically not granted.
Will I receive a decision on my deferral request before the Decision and Deposit deadline?
No. All deferral requests will be reviewed after the decision and deposit deadline. If you believe you will be unable to join the program without receiving a deferral, then you may email mbaexec-ops@wharton.upenn.edu prior to the deposit deadline to discuss your situation and make a decision to pursue a deferral after the deadline or withdraw your admission ahead of accepting our offer.
Is there a deadline for submitting a Deferral Request?
Yes. Under no circumstances will deferral requests be considered after Thursday, May 1, 2025. Please plan and prioritize accordingly to the extent to which you are able.
Class Kickoff
What should I be doing now to prepare for the first class sessions?
When you receive your materials, you should pay close attention to the pre-readings due for each class. It’s very important to come prepared so you do not fall behind. If your quantitative skills need honing, we highly encourage you to attend the Math Bootcamp sessions. We will send more information about this in the coming months. Read more about how to prepare on our Resources & Webinars page.
At which hotel will I be staying for Class Kickoff?
Wharton MBA for Executives students typically stay at the Inn at Penn, the Steinberg Conference Center, or The Study when they have required sessions on the Philadelphia campus. All three hotels are located within walking distance of Jon M. Huntsman Hall and Dinan Hall, where most classes are held. Your hotel stay will be managed by your class manager, and reservation details will be shared with you in May.
When will we get our learning teams?
You will find out your learning team assignment during orientation week. The admissions and program management offices create the first-year learning teams of 5-7 students. The groups are intended to be balanced and diverse.
Other
How do I make the hotel reservations for sessions on the Philadelpha or San Francisco campus?
During regular two-day program weekends, a Friday night hotel reservation will be made for all students in the Philadelphia or San Francisco cohorts. During extended program weekends, including those for Global Cohort students, reservations for all required overnight stays will be made. All reservations are handled by your WEMBA Class Manager, and you do not need to do anything to schedule your room during required sessions. Any additional nights’ accommodation outside the required sessions will be at your own expense, though we are happy to assist in making those arrangements. For additional night(s) accommodation, you will need to email your Class Manager to check for availability and make your reservation.
